Exploring Sibling Dynamics

Our relationships with our brothers and sisters can be loving and supportive, but they can also be tense, competitive and very difficult too. Often there is a roller coaster of different dynamics that weave through sibling relationships, and these can be very stressful indeed. Given the impact and importance of sibling relationships in family life, it is surprising that they receive so little attention in most personal development work.

In this workshop Chris and Gaye will use systemic constellation work to enable participants to explore their own sibling dynamics, in both nuclear and blended families. The workshop will address missing siblings and the trans-generational dynamics that may be influencing the system and impacting on our sense of place in other social groups.

Who is it for?

This event is open to anyone who wishes to attend to their own, or client, sibling dynamics, including those who are an only child.

What will your learn/develop?

We will dive into the hidden dynamics of sibling relationships; the archetypes in our cultures; how we overlay the sibling matrix onto our social and work groups; how we may be carrying trans-generational dynamics into our own sibling relationships.

We will explore what is needed to unlock the knots that create tensions, rivalries, unrealistic expectations, imbalances etc. The day will include teaching, exercises and constellations that the whole group will participate in.

The experience of the day

The day will be dynamic, explorative and both personal and collective. Everyone in the group will be part of each piece of work. There will also be time for exploring our ongoing experience, so that we gather our insight and wisdom together. The shape of the day will follow the needs of the group, as we tenderly explore what wishes to be seen and heard and healed.

Participants who would like to do a piece of work are invited, before the workshop begins, to email a short paragraph that describes the essence of their question and provides details of what they would like to explore.  Details of how to do this will be sent after booking.

All requests for a constellation will be collected and grouped so that, although there is only one ‘Holder of the Issue’ at a time, everyone who feels connected to the question is also included in the constellation in a personal way.
